Update 9.5.2010

Eric had a decent day yesterday. He loves getting visitors but it also wears him out. He has not been eating like he should. He has been having panic attacks and we have to keep him calmed down a lot. He asked Sheila to stay with him last night again. This is really tough and we all hope that he gets better soon. Not too much has changed since Friday. Keep him in your prayers.

  4. Eric,
I cant get you off my mind. I wake up in the middle of the night, wake around and pray for you. I think of a praise song and I lift you in song. Phil is concerned I've lost my marbles but honestly I did that years ago.God keeps telling me to trust him, so that my friend is what I am going to do, how about you? You need me anytime you call me I dont care what time day or night. We're in this together and together we will get through it. Love you bud See see soon Thursday if not before than.

  5. Hang in there dude! I have had panic attacks regularly for the past 5 years and came to realized that I actually had them as a kid too. I saw/continue to see a counselor that helped me get through it. A great book is "when Panic attacks". A simple thing to think of is: "Is it a Rope or Snake"? That which you fear...?? It is most likely a Rope, not to fear!! & "This too will pass"!! Friend of your dad.. Charles Maier
PS I would love to help if I can futher on this topic!

We have been praying for you daily and like everyone else has said God has a plan for you just stay strong and trust him, everything happens for a reason we don't always know why but God knew this would happen before you were ever even born and he will bring you through it. Keep rooting for Tony tonight I want to see that TShirt when he gets out of the car for the trophy... If you ever need anything or just need someone to talk to give me a call my cell is always on. We all love you and are anxious for you to come back home, I can't wait to get down to Indy and hang out for awhile, keep working hard with rehab and get plenty of rest.

  13. Eric - I don't know you but was pulling for Tony when he won the Atlanta Race tonite. And when he climbed out of that car, he soon mentioned you, your accident and that the race was dedicated to you. He also commented on what a strong young man you are. And that's pretty high praise coming from Tony Stewart!

I have two grandsons, 18 and 20, and I can not imagine what this must be like for you and your family. In reading these comments, it seems you have a strong, loving support group. And I will pray for strength for you and all who love you as you start this road to recovery.

  17. Eric and family,
I don't know you, but I do know A LOT of people love and have been praying for you. At Hangtime this weekend they had an auction, stickers, and t-shirts that we all purchased to help your family. We prayed for you and your family and will continue to do so. Our God is an awesome God and can do things we think aren't possible. The power of so many people praying for you is awesome, and in time, I hope you will see all the blessing that come about because of this.

  18. Eric and family,
I am a promoter at a small dirt track in the middle of North Dakota. Irish used to come to our WISSOTA banquets and that is how I knew of you, Eric, and your racing. Your Dad is so proud of you!! Got home from our race last night and turned on the TV and caught a little of Tony's interview -- enough to hear that you were injured. Just want you to know that you have fans in ND who are praying for you to have a complete recovery. Also praying for your Mom and Dad. As a Mom (and Grandma) I can only imagine how hard this is for them. Will be watching this blog for good news!! God Bless!

  19. Hey Eric,

Sorry to hear about your accident man. I talked with Grant Galloway the other day and he told me what happened and all that I was in a road bike accident four years ago. I am from South Bend. I will come down and visit but just let me know when you are in Rehab. I think that would work out way better than the ICU. Let me know man I am moving next week so hopefully before then I can come down and we can meet and then go from there. Hope all is going well. Keep your head up. Life is and still can be good after an injury. I am pulling for you man. Give me a ring if you want or send an e-mail.

  26. Hey Eric: This is Linda. We stopped to see you on our trip back from Florida. Glad to hear you're making improvement and am sure you'll be on your way to RHI soon. If I can offer encouragement from what we've been through with Ben - you've got to eat, eat, eat! You're body has been through a lot and you may not feel like eating, but you still need to to provide your body with protein to help give you strength for therapy and good skin tone. Praying for you often.
